Basic conditions for approval of requalification

To be eligible to apply for support for requalification, you must be registered with the Labour Office:

What are the obligations of the applicant when applying for requalification?

Cooperation with the employment officer / job placement intermediary

!Pokud se bez omluvy nedostavíte, může to vést k vyřazení z evidence uchazečů!

Submission of an application for requalification

Attendance at meetings for evaluating the application

In the case of an arranged requalification

Attendance in the course and follow-up check

What are the other requirements for the applicant?

  • A motivation letter or a brief justification is part of the requalification application. In some cases, also include the reasons why you are applying for the course (e.g., demonstrable employer interest, insufficient language skills, etc.). The course must be purposeful—that is, it increases your chances of employment in the labor market.
  • If you are not an EU citizen, you must prove free access to the Czech labor market, or temporary protection status. If your residence permit is “in process” at the Ministry of the Interior of the Czech Republic, you must provide the relevant document as evidence.
  • Feedback from an employer stating that after completing the course you have a chance of being hired (in the case of the B1 course).
  • Your advisor from the Labour Office must agree with the requalification.
  • If you are in a notice period while employed, you must inform the Labour Office of the status change within 7 working days, i.e., switch from “interested person” status to “job seeker.”

The requalification must improve your employability in the labor market!

The Labour Office will approve the course if it recognizes that a language barrier prevents you from finding a job. Typically for foreigners with limited knowledge of Czech.

The course must not be duplicative!

If you already have the given skills (e.g., advanced Czech), the Labour Office may reject the requalification as purposeless.

What are the Personality Criteria?

If you do not speak Czech and are applying for the M1 course, come to the meeting with someone who speaks Czech. The officer may not have the necessary language skills.

Be punctual for scheduled appointments.

If you cannot attend an agreed appointment, inform your officer in advance; otherwise, you will be removed from the register for 6 months.

Maintain a motivated, respectful, and responsible attitude when dealing with the officer.

In the event of any changes (residential address, status, or contact details), you are obliged to notify the Labour Office as soon as possible, either by email or in person
